One Woman Makes A DifferenceQuote by the late Peter Jennings May 2004 Dr. Butler, an internationally recognized author, educator, and nutritional advocate, is leaving Browns Mill Elementary to expand her school wellness advocacy. While at Browns Mill she was an exceptional leader as principal for 11 years. During that time, she led Browns Mill to become a Georgia School of Excellence in 2005 and 2008 and a national Blue Ribbon School in 2005. Her leadership, innovation, compassion, and fierce advocacy for youth helps drive momentum in the health and science community, gains respect for Browns Mill Elementary, and brings positive attention to DeKalb County and other Atlanta area schools. Dr. Butler continues to spread her message of wellness and is celebrated by prominent health leaders in the U.S. and even heads of state abroad. Now we want to celebrate and give praise to one who has given so much, made tremendous sacrifices, and asked so little in return to realize her vision for healthy children, families, and communities throughout our country and the world. |
